Poem 9

If I had one word to say I all plainnessCould I convey its urgency That desperation to finish what had startedIs clear to me in its viewLaid awake at night I stare upAt the shifting shapes in the darkSometimes visible while others justDance in colors on the back of eyelidsWould you be there like you shouldInstead of hiding in the same cornerSo often you reclude to darker placesMost nights I see you thereTaking on various tasks I amToo scared or bored to confrontThere could be a prettier pictureOne of you, silent in poseWe know by nowThat this connection is too trueAnd strong in formTo break upon these simple trifesThat I am fast asleep, in a dreamI'd rather dream of you in various waysAlways so kind in what they impressThis is the path I take in all endsPieces of you held in depthThat distance is too good for meAnd yet I keep it nearbyJust now I saw itThis formed from what I had seenNow I long to glance again upon itYour frame and stance and joyA better place and home it has foundWith me, I will keep it safeAnd desire will form on its presenceLike had once been when you too were nearNear to me like a closeness that cannotBe escaped in any measureThis is a feeling I embraceLike had once I wanted to embraceNow into new realms I tread
