# Passing props between React components

React components use props to communicate with each other. [S1]

## Passing data down

Every parent component can pass some information to its child components by giving them props. [S1]

You read props inside the child component and use them like variables. [S1]

Props are read-only for the child; the parent owns the values it passes. [S1]

## Events as props

You can pass functions as props so children can tell parents about events. [S2]

Event handler functions are usually defined inside your components. [S2]
